Another cultural highlight was exploring the local markets, particularly the Duong Dong Market in the main town. Here, I found an array of fresh produce, local snacks, and handmade souvenirs. The market is bustling with life, and I loved the chance to sample some of the island’s famous dishes, including “Bún Quậy” (a type of noodle soup) and freshly caught seafood. The warm hospitality of the vendors added to the charm of the market experience.
For those seeking adventure, Phu Quoc offers an array of thrilling activities. I had the opportunity to go scuba diving and snorkeling at An Thoi Islands, a small archipelago in the southern part of the island. In addition to seafood, Phu Quoc is known for its production of fish sauce. The island’s fish sauce, called “nước mắm Phú Quốc,” is considered the best in Vietnam. I had the chance to visit a fish sauce factory and learn about the traditional methods used to produce this essential ingredient. The process was fascinating, and I even purchased a bottle of fish sauce to bring home as a souvenir.
